Application

Who can apply?

Applicants who have completed at least the first years of residency in each specialty are welcomed to participate in the elective program. In order to be eligible for a limited number of clinical positions for foreign clinicians, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Applicants must be in good health and in good academic standing in their own hospitals.
  2. Applicants must have completed the first year of residency training prior to taking overseas elective programs.
  3. Proficiency in Chinese or English language, particularly in speaking and listening comprehension, is preferred. Our teaching medium and clinical practice are mainly in Mandarin, accompanied by English textbook, slides, and history system.

 

The Chinese proficiency statement could be as followings:

  1. If the applicant received primary education in Taiwan or China, just write it on the curriculum vitae.
  2. If the applicant can speak Chinese, a statement certified by the student or family members would be accepted. (Ex: I hereby certified that [applicant] is currently fluent in speak conversational Mandarin/Chinese. [signature])
  3. If the applicant is (has been) enrolled in Chinese language classes, a certificate or a transcript of record by the language center is preferred.

 

Required Application Documents

The applications should be initiated 3 months in advance of the anticipated beginning of the program. The following documents are required for application:

  1. Completed application form with a recent photograph (passport photo).
  2. A recommendation letter from your academic supervisor or the director of your residency training program.
  3. A personal statement describing your interests in learning if entering this program.
  4. Curriculum Vitae
  5. Photocopy of diplomas for your degree in medicine (M.D., M.B.) or any other related medical fields.
  6. Photocopy of qualified licenses related to medical fields.
  7. Proof of residency training (at least one full year of post-graduate clinical training).
  8. Photocopy of your passport (the page containing personal information and photograph).
  9. Certificate of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B status.
  10. Proof of travel and health insurance.
  11. Proof of proficiency in traditional Chinese (if available)

 

Upon receipt of the above documents, the application will be reviewed by chairperson(s) of the respective department(s) and it normally takes about 10 weeks to process. When the application is accepted, a letter of acceptance describing our arrangements will be issued.

The applicant must confirm his/her decision about our arrangements at least 4 weeks prior to the start date of the elective term. If he/she needs to withdraw from the electives or change his/her arrival date, please notify in writing at least 6 weeks before the elective term.

 

Insurance

The clinician from abroad is responsible for covering his/her own health insurance.
