Department of Family Medicine
The Department of Family Medicine at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) was established in August 1979 and was initially named the Department of General Practice. Under the leadership of the NTUH Superintendent and the department's first chairperson, Professor Wei-Chuan Hsieh, the department gradually expanded and successfully developed its residency training program.
Residency Training
From 1979 to 1985, the department offered a two-year training program, admitting two to three residents each year. In August 1985, with the support of the Department of Health and the Department of Education, Executive Yuan, the department was renamed the Department of Family Medicine. A three-year residency program was introduced, increasing annual recruitment to ten residents.
