Contents of Training

 

First to Third-year residents

 

  • Internal medicine: 3 months, inpatient care 

  • Pediatrics: 2 months, inpatient and outpatient clinic care

  • Obstetrics and Gynecology: 2 months, inpatient and outpatient clinic care

  • Surgical medicine: 1 month, inpatient care, operation room, and outpatient care

  • Psychiatric medicine: 2 months, inpatient and outpatient care, pediatric psychological assessment center

  • Emergency medicine: 2 months, internal, surgical, and pediatric emergency care training

  • Otolaryngology: 1 month, outpatient and inpatient care

  • Dermatology: 1 month, outpatient care

  • Rehabilitation medicine: 1 month, inpatient and outpatient care

  • Electives: At least 8 months in total

  • Each resident must complete one family medicine-related medical research

  • Family Medicine outpatient clinic: 1-3 clinics per week

  • Family Medicine training: At least 9 months, including:

    • Inpatient training program: general ward, palliative and hospice ward
    • Outpatient training program: manage administrative affairs in our outpatient clinic 
    • Help manage training for medical students in our outpatient clinic 
    • In charge of general and emergency consultations
    • Psychological consultation training
  • Community medicine training: at least 4 months in NTUH branches at Yun-Lin, Bei-Hu, and Jin-Shan Public Health Care Center

Fourth-year residents:

 

  • 4-6 residents are recruited each year for training

  • Oversee affairs and teaching activities in our Family medicine department

  • Palliative and hospice care: 3 months of chief residency in our palliative and hospice ward

  • Geriatric Medicine: At least 1 month of training in each of the three departments (Neurology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation medicine), 3 months of training in the Geriatric Care Ward, and 3 months of training in long-term care facilities. Residents will have at least 6 months of Geriatric Medicine outpatient clinic training during their fourth year (one clinic per week)

  • Family Medicine outpatient clinic: 3 times of outpatient clinic per week

  • Behavioral medicine and psychological assessment training.

  • Opportunity to teach in medical education activities.
