Accomplishments in cooperative plans between National Taiwan University Hospital and Vietnam

Vietnam to develop new medical techniques, and in recent years, people have become more and more closely between Taiwan and Vietnam. In order to assist Vietnam to improve their medical level, from year 2006, NTUH has actively extended the collaborations with Vietnam’s hospitals, which include mutual visiting and signing MOU of both hospitals, assisting doctors’ training, sharing medical information, proceeding distance medical services and learning, and also sending NTUH’s specialists to cooperated hospital for clinical guidance. 

Below is the statement of accomplishment in cooperative plan between NTUH and Vietnam,

1992 First successful kidney transplantation in Vietnam conducted by NTUH's professor Dr. Lee, Chue-Shue
1995 First successful marrow transplantation in Vietnam conducted by NTUH’s professors Dr. Yao-Chang Chen, Dr. Kai-Hsin Lin and their medical team
2005 Signing the cooperation agreement with Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City
Holding the medical conference of neurology in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
2006 Signing the cooperation agreement with two hospitals atHanoi, including Bach Mai hospital, Viet Duc hospital, and one hospital at Ho Chi Minh City, the Cho Ray hospital
Holding the medical conference of liver medicine in Hanoi andHo Chi Minh City
2007 Signing the cooperation agreement with Institute of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at Hanoi and 115 People's hospital at Ho Chi Minh City
Holding the medical conference of cardiology in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
Holding medical books donation project. Totally 1,057 medical books were donated to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City
First successful live donor liver transplantation in Vietnam conducted by NTUH's professors Dr. Po-Huang Lee and his medical team. This became the important achievement in medical field of Vietnam and was widely reported by their mass media
2008 Distance learning lectures were carried out for 13 sessions totally
Chief of nursing department, Prof. Yu-Tzu Dai and senior nurse Ms. Jing Hsiao visited Vietnam and gave the clinical lectures
Holding the medical conference of Immunology & Rheumatology in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
During 2005 to 2008 there were 38 Vietnamese doctors coming to NTUH to receive their training. And each year, the board of directors from mutual hospitals visited each other.
2009 Signing the co​operation agreement with National Hospital of Pediatrics of Vietnam at Hanoi, Hue Central Hospital, and Children’s Hospital 1 at Ho Chi Minh City
Singing the extended cooperation agreement with Cho Ray hospital and 115 People's hospital
Holding the medical conference of Mini Invasive Surgery at Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City
Conducting distance medical learning project, including 5 case studies and 11 lectures
Trained 26 Vietnamese doctors and medical staff
Arranging an IT specialist to National Hospital of Pediatrics ofVietnam for instruction
Conducting NTUH-HOPE project in Vietnam, totally 21 of NTUH’s doctors were assigned to Viet Duc Hospital for clinical instruction and assistance for a period of time
