Clerkship

Clerkship rotation in the internal medicine and its various subspecialities are given in the fifth and sixth year, respectively.

  • The fifth year
It is a required course for the medical students. They will be divided into groups for a total of 9-week practice in three different ward. There are doctors responding instructing the students. The students are not only exposed to the knowledge of the internal medicine, but also taking part in the clinical job. They are free to ask questions and discuss with their teachers or physicians. "Simulated patients" in different clinical scenarios will be provided as a test for the students.

  • The sixth year
There is a 6-week selected course in the two differnet ordinary wards. The students also practice in the teaching outpatient clinics. Besides participating in the activity described above, the 6th year students will be responsible for taking care of the patients under the supervision of senior residents and attending physicians. The so-called "primary care" training program for the clerkship has been applied since 1999.
