- 1. Genetic study of Type 2 DM
- (a) He discovered the genetic product of IRS-1 ( insulin receptor substrate 1) whch is closely related to diabetes mellitus
- (b)Heterogeneeity of diabetes mellitus including age, races. Insulin resistance and function variety in islets cells among different races
- © Investigate the molecular mechanism of insulin in order to understand more about diabetes mellitus : from the common character of signal transduction of insulin and leukotriene 4, we used microarray method and discovered about 20 genes which is closely related to the performance of STAT ( signal transduction and transccroption )
- (d) Relation between obesity and diabetes mellitus : using differential display method we discover 50 genes which closely related with the mitosis of adipocytes.
- (e) Obesity is an important risk factor of coronary artery disease : adiponectin, Type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary artery disease
- 2. Genetic study of Type 1 DM, Wilson disease and other metabolic disease
