About Us

National Taiwan University Hospital’s Department of Neurology and Psychiatry was founded in 1946. After undergoing decades of transformations, it was restructured into the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Neurology . Since then, the staff and faculty of the Department of Psychiatry have dedicated themselves to promoting the education, research, and service of Psychiatry.

The Department provides outpatient clinical service, daytime short-stay services for adults and children, and acute wards for patients with psychotic, neurotic and psychosomatic disorders.

We boast a medical workforce consisting of skilled psychiatrists, nurses, clinical social workers, clinical psychologists, and occupational therapists. Our experts work closely with patients to develop the best prevention and rehabilitation programs based on their biological, psychological, familial, and social conditions.

Our missions are: first, to provide high-quality medical care; second, to advance in psychiatric research and development; third and the last, to cultivate future medical professionals by offering education and training for medical students and specialists in psychiatry. In recent years, we have made significant contributions to academic and clinical research, aiming to become Asia’s top psychiatric departments.
