As a professional center promoting research and clinical development in the field of interventional oncology, OMIC holds the following objectives:
- Provision of a multidisciplinary platform for the research and development of therapy modalities
OMIC will hold regular multidisciplinary team meetings to promote the exchange of experiences, discuss problems, and deal with the demands of clinical trials. We will also promote the study of new technologies, publish academic papers, and develop image-guided tools to extend the depth and breadth of interventional oncology.
- Participation in and hosting of international clinical trials
OMIC will assist principal investigators in launching clinical trials. We will actively participate in and host international multi-center clinical trials in interventional oncology.
- Provision of training platforms and materials
NTUH is expected to build a foundation for the training of medical professionals involved in minimally invasive therapy and to provide a forward base for such research in Asia.
OMIC will provide workshops in interventional oncology as well as continuing education courses, master classes, and advanced training programs. OMIC will also develop and distribute training materials, educational models, and textbooks.
- Development of medical equipment and drugs used in tumor ablation therapy
OMIC will connect the medical community with academic research groups, such as those in medical engineering and optoelectronics, to promote the development of tools for tumor ablation. OMIC will also cooperate with Taiwanese manufacturers to assist in the introduction of advanced technologies to the rest of the world.
