Treatment

1. Specialist clinics recognized by the Taiwan Department of Health and various specialist academicassociations include: family dentistry/general dentistry, endodontics, restorative dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology/oral diagnosis.
2. Various special outpatient clinics such as: special care clinic for handicapped patients for conscious sedation and general anesthesia prior to treatment or surgery, sedation clinic, tooth whitening clinic, maxillofacial reconstruction clinic, oral mucosa specialist clinic, laser treatment clinic, betel nut related oral disease clinic, head and neck cancer radiotherapy clinic, temporomandibular joint disorder clinic, dental implant clinic, AIDS specialist clinic, as well as special clinic that collaborates with our hospital’s sleep center.
3. Our Department of Dentistry is one of the few departments in the country that has its own dental wards, currently we have 23 standardized beds in 9 wards, with male and female clinician rotation units, dining room, chief resident office, head nurse office, nursing station, operation room (with 3 chairs), observation room, discussion room, and social function room.
4. Individual dental radiology room operated by 3 radiologists with specialist license.
5. Individual sterilization room with designated staff and regular machine evaluation and testing.

Teaching

1. Ever since 1995, we have divided our department into the abovementioned 9 divisions, each with its own director, attending physicians, residents, interns, and individual treatment rooms also as specialist training centers. Our directors in these 9 divisions all have specialist and professor qualifications.
2. All our divisions have their own intern and resident educational training handbook and intern handbook for clear standardized instructions and procedures in patient treatment.
3. All our divisions have exclusive directors to conduct intern and resident training protocols.
4. Our official website offers online education, correspondence treatment facilities and functions, as well as various learning courses. We also have an exclusive online radiograph transferring system for immediate radiographic image upload and transfer for students and staff in clinics. Currently we are developing an online education system that offers recorded lectures, and in the future we wish to provide video conference courses and clinics.
5. We conduct regular seminars and dental academic association speeches 20 to 30 times a year to enhance our learning.
6. In the past 3 years, we have 100% passing rate in our chief resident training course and national specialty license examination.
7. We have built close relationships with our sister schools from overseas and hold many international exchanges each year.

Research

Currently the Department of Dentistry and the School of Dentistryhas 8 research teams, and we publish on average of 40 to 50 SCI papers, with 20 National Science Council research proposals.
