Aim
1. To cultivate outstanding clinical dentist to possess adequate knowledge and skill in order to take place in the leadership in the periodontal aspect in Taiwan, as a result, contributing the medical quality of Taiwan.
2. To strengthen the training standard of periodontal specialists, and as the same time, enhance the specialized ability of the training dentist.
3. For preparation of the further education and training center of the dental department, which establish the fundamental and leadership of periodontal training in Taiwan.
Training Course
(1)Clinical aspect
Each trainee should participate the clinical practice at least 5 half days per week, under the guidance of the attending and visiting staffs. All of the training dentists should reach the minimum requirements of treatment with complete data collection of each patient after the confirmation or cosignature by the attending staff. Certification of periodontal specialist training would only be given to those who complete the requirements stated above.
The quality of the treatment and service is maintained under the supervision of the attending staff during the training.

(2)Full documentation of each cases included,
Complete Periodontal charting data, high-quality radiographic examination, dental model cast, case analysis, interdisciplinary consultation and treatment planning.
Phase I therapy, oral hygiene instruction, oral hygiene monitoring
Discussion of treatment planning and rehabilitation with the attending staff
Complete record of all treatment and surgeries, with instruction and cosignature of attending staff
Maintenance phase of the periodontal treatment.
Academic Course
In order to enhance the quality of specialist training, the course is designed based on the reference of World’s top dental colleges, which included the basic science knowledge of the clinical periodontology.
Moreover, the periodontics department of National Taiwan University Hospital is now one of the qualified training centers of Taiwan Academy of Periodontology.
