Our department is proud to provide “elderly-centered,” integrated clinical services based on disease conditions, access to family/community resources, potential of recovery, values, and preferences. According to patients’ needs, we offer services including preventive healthcare, health promotion, CGA for outpatients, (sub-)acute care wards, consultation services, nursing homes, home care, etc. Our goal is to ensure that older patients receive a full range of CoC-based services.
In the future, we hope to facilitate Taiwan’s research on geriatric medicine in order to catch up with the development of that field in advanced Western countries. To this end, the Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology works as an indispensable division. By training a highly competent workforce required for professional geriatric long-term care, the department aims to establish a well-rounded system of healthcare practices and cultures as a provider of better clinical services and teaching/research programs in the interests of Taiwan. With these efforts, our objective is to become the country’s most prestigious facility that provides clinical services and teaching/research programs covering all aspects of aging care.
