Our History

In 1947, NTUH established the Division of Neurology and Psychiatry. In 1961, Professor Hung Tsu-Pei[1] returned to Taiwan after studying in Great Britain. With his help, the field of clinical neurology began to make significant advances.

In 1980, after the Department of Neurology became an independent branch, we became further committed to research in neurology. We not only worked together with the Graduate Institutes of Physiology, Anatomy, Pharmacology, and Immunology, but also helped to found patient organizations like the Multiple Sclerosis Association Taiwan and Taiwan Epilepsy Association, and held regular educational lectures.

In recent years, the Primary Stroke Center and the Center for Parkinson and Movement Disorders were founded in NTUH. We have seen more thorough research in a variety of specialty fields related to neurology.
