Nurture and TreasUre Children’s Health

Wang-Tso Lee, Dean of National Taiwan University Children's Hospital

The establishment of National Taiwan University Children's Hospital was a touching story that took more than 20 years of struggle and effort, woven together by many predecessors and young partners. The story originated from the concept of speaking up for children, and went through the arduous processes of planning, hardware construction, hospital standards and regulations revision, as well as communication and negotiation of related medical resources. Finally, in 2014, the hospital officially opened and became the first national children's hospital in Taiwan. This was not only a big step forward for children's medical care in Taiwan, but also a concrete contribution by National Taiwan University Hospital and National Taiwan University College of Medicine to fulfill their mission of "assuming national and social responsibilities" for the children.

National Taiwan University Children's Hospital is a hospital exclusively for children, allowing all children to receive complete medical care that is suitable for them. From fetuses to newborns, children, and even adults, every stage can obtain relatively appropriate resources and the best treatment. We strive for "healthier children" and hope to combine social resources, connect everyone's cherished love for children in their hearts, and work hard for every child. In recent years, the overall medical care in Taiwan has undergone significant changes due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this difficult time, National Taiwan University Children's Hospital hopes not only to fulfill its mission of assuming national and social responsibilities, but also to create shared values for the nation and society.

Therefore, the future goals of National Taiwan University Children's Hospital are as follows:

  1. Cultivate outstanding talent in children's medical care and health in Taiwan.

  2. Serve as the national children's medical center and take care of critically ill children with rare diseases.

  3. Lead research on children's health and medical care nationwide. As a long-term vision for the national children's medical center, we aim to implement exemplary children's medical care, research, and education. The primary goal is to treat the children who need it the most, as well as assume the role of strategist and pioneer in children's medical care and health nationwide, continuing the efforts of our predecessors with a steady pace, innovative essence, and cautious attitude.

  4. Build a complete system of children's medical care and assume the mission of national and social responsibilities, using smart medical care to create shared values for the nation and society.

For the sake of healthier children, we will work even harder!

Let us connect with our love for children, weave our hopes and dreams together!
