NTUCH Introduction

兒童醫院外觀Children are the future leaders of the country, and their health represents the country's future development potential. In the current era of low birth rates, the health of children should be given more attention. Looking at the large-scale comprehensive hospitals in the country, they are mainly oriented towards adult medical care, making it difficult to plan and design facilities with children as the main focus. As for the distribution of children's medical resources, the existing frontline medical facilities are quite sufficient, but there is a lack of hospitals for referral and a general lack of contact networks for transferring severe cases.

In order to advance children's healthcare, National Taiwan University Hospital began calling for the establishment of a children's hospital in May 1984. After multiple revisions of the establishment plan and fundraising efforts, construction of the Children's Medical Building was completed in December 2008 and officially opened. In March 2013, the Ministry of Health and Welfare revised the standards for the establishment of medical institutions, establishing standards for children's hospitals. National Taiwan University Hospital immediately began preparing for the establishment of a children's hospital, and finally, in April 2014, the Ministry of Health and Welfare approved the establishment of National Taiwan University Children's Hospital, issuing a license on June 30th. National Taiwan University Children's Hospital held its opening ceremony on July 21st and officially opened on August 1st.
