Visiting Hours

The regulations for visitor flow control at NTUH are as follows: 

1. Rules for appointing an accompaniment (updated on December 27, 2022)

Accompaniment rules:

Accompaniment rules: In line with the national policy toward the course of the epidemic, as well as patient requirements, please avoid unnecessary accompaniments during the epidemic. For exceptions or necessary accompaniments, only one accompanying caregiver is allowed, and the caregiver must not exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 and must possess a negative screening test result. Accompanying caregivers are discouraged from leaving the hospital during their accompaniment, and are subjected to health monitoring procedures similar to inpatients.

  • Number of accompaniers:
    • Each patient is limited to 1 accompanying caregiver (including the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology).
    • Exceptions: A maximum of two accompanying caregivers is allowed for each pediatric patient (under 12 years of age), elderly patient (above 65 years of age), those with physical or mental disabilities, or those with a condition (mobility difficulties or unable to engage in self-care) as deemed necessary to require two accompanying caregivers by a physician.
  • Screening regulations: Only one accompanying caregiver for each inpatient is eligible for a government-funded screening test.
    • 1. For each patient, only one accompanying caregiver can undergo the government-funded screening test. A self-paid screening test is required for the second accompanying caregiver thereafter.
    • 2. Patients/accompanying caregivers who have provided a negative PCR/antigen report two days prior to hospitalization are deemed to have consented to undergoing an at-home test on the day of hospitalization.
    • 3. At home tests should be performed first by patients and their accompanying caregivers. As soon as the patient has been hospitalized, a government-funded screening test will be administered by the ward. Before entering the hospital, those who are unable to undergo the at-home test shall proceed to the epidemics outpatient clinic (during outpatient consultation hours) to obtain and administer the at-home test on their own.
    • 4. Patients/accompanying caregivers who have difficulty in taking the screening test (even under the assistance of family members) or is suffering from an illness (such as nasal lesion) and are unable to take the self-test in the day of hospitalization can schedule a test at the epidemics outpatient clinic.
    • 5. Accompanying caregivers who are unable to continuously accompany a patient because of the patient’s treatment (such as transferring to the ICU) must abide by the screening rules when returning after one night or more.
  • Individuals with the following circumstances are strongly discouraged from becoming an accompanying caregiver. If an accompaniment is necessary, the accompanying caregiver must produce a negative at-home test result on the day of hospitalization and must undergo a government-funded at-home test once every day until (1) their symptoms are alleviated, or (2) they complete their monitoring period ends (the 8th day). Each patient is allowed only one accompanying caregiver who would receive a government-funded at-home test every day.
    • Those who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19: Fever ≧38°C, respiratory tract symptoms, loss of taste/smell, unexplained diarrhea.
    • Those undergoing self-initiated prevention: 7 days of self-initiated prevention should be carried out from the day following the entry date or from the day following the last day of contact with a confirmed case.
    • Those undergoing self-health management: Confirmed cases who have been released from isolation shall continue up seven days of self-health management, which can be discontinued if a negative test results is produced. 
       
  • Accompanying caregivers are required to bring:
  • 1. Personal identification (e.g. NHI card, national ID card or ARC).
  • 2. A photo or poster of the at-home test result or a negative PCR/antigen test results within two days of a negative result (Results from other medical institutions will be accepted).
    • For accompanying caregivers and inpatients: In order to protect the health of our inpatients and their families, each inpatient and his/her accompanying person must present proof of COVID-19 testing (Poster:中文版EnglishBahasa

  • The CECC has announced that all visitations will be conditionally allowed.
  • Visitors must not display any symptom of COVID-19.
  • Visitors must be masked at all times inside the hospital and practice hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette.
  • Visiting hours and number of visitors:
    • Only one designated visiting period per day, and a maximum of two visitors for each inpatient.
    • Children’s Hospital/West Campus/ICU/Floors 3-8 of the East Campus: 11:00-12:00 (For epidemic prevention reasons, visitors to the ICU are only allowed to enter the hospital 20 minutes before their scheduled visiting time. Please enter the ICU at the specified time. Do not arrive too early. Sorry for any inconveniences caused.)
    • Floors 7-9 of the East Campus: 13:00-14:00.
    • Floors 11-15 of the East Campus, Children’s Hospital general ward: 14:00-15:00.
  • Exceptions to the visiting hours and number of visitors:
    • 1. Patients undergoing surgery or an invasive examination or treatment requiring the accompaniment of a family member, or a family member required to sign a consent form or document for the aforementioned procedures as required by law. 
    • 2. Inpatients admitted to the emergency department, ICU, palliative care unit, and other units that need to respond to a patient's deteriorating condition; patients requiring medical treatment, whose visits are deemed necessary by the healthcare facility.
    • 3. Inpatients admitted to the emergency department, ICU, palliative care unit, and other units that need to respond to a patient's deteriorating condition; patients requiring medical treatment, whose visits are deemed necessary by the healthcare facility.
    • 4. Other special reasons which warrant visitations and approved by the ward.
  • Visitor(s) is required to bring:
    • 1. Personal identification (e.g. NHI card, national ID card or ARC)
    • 2. Hospital Visitor ID Card for family members.
    • Visitors who do not display symptoms of COVID-19 or are not at risk of infection are exempted from showing a o    negative at-home test result or negative PCR/antigen test result taken on the visiting day.
  • Visitations are strongly discouraged for the following conditions. If a visit is absolutely necessary, visitors must show a negative at-home test result or negative PCR/antigen test result taken on the visiting day..
    • (1) Those who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19: Fever ≧38°C, respiratory tract symptoms, loss of taste/smell, unexplained diarrhea.
    • (2) Those undergoing self-initiated prevention: 7 days of self-initiated prevention should be carried out from the day following the entry date or from the day following the day of contact with a confirmed case who is a family member living in the same house, a roommate, or an individual in a hospital.
    • (3)Those undergoing self-health management: Confirmed cases who have been released from isolation shall continue up seven days of self-health management, which can be discontinued if a negative test results is produced.
    • Online appointment: Appointments must be made before midnight before the visit. Please bring proof of the appointment and present the QR Code at the hospital entrance.

  • Reminder: It is recommended that individuals on home isolation or quarantine or who have completed their quarantine period and who are self-initiating epidemic prevention, use video calling rather than visiting in person. Asymptomatic individuals may visit, but accompanier status is not permitted.

2. Individuals with infectious diseases (particularly respiratory diseases) and children under six should refrain from visiting. If a visit is necessary, such individuals are requested to put on face masks to prevent infections from spreading. In the event of special circumstances, such visitors shall be assisted and guided by our nursing staff.

3. Before visiting a patient, visitors have to wash their hands or use a hand sanitizer. 

4. Please refrain from using your mobile phone in the ward. If you have to use your phone, please maintain some distance from any medical equipment or use it in the sun lounge, so as to avoid interfering with the normal operation of the medical equipment and ensure patient safety.

5. In order to maintain a quiet environment in our wards, please speak quietly and put your phone on vibrate. Children should also not be allowed to play or make noise in a ward.

6. Please keep your cash and valuables in a secure place and do not leave them lying around.

7. In order to ensure a quiet environment in our wards, the smooth functioning of the hospital, and the privacy of our patients and medical staff, visitors are not allowed to visit, photograph, or record videos of the hospital's operating rooms, intensive care unit wards, delivery rooms, emergency rooms, burn center, isolation wards, outpatient clinics, and ward areas. If a patient, family member, or visitor intends to take photos or record videos of the hospital areas mentioned above (including the wards), he or she shall first inform the staff at the nursing station of the area in question, and seek the hospital's permission before doing so.
