Child Developmental Assessment & Intervention Center

Early intervention in pediatric rehabilitation is geared towards comprehensive services for children with developmental delays.  The primary focus is to help identify the etioloty of the delays and provide targeted treatment in order to overcome them.  Through rehabilitation, various services may be mobilized to faciliate progress.  These services include: speciality medical care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychotherapy, special education, social services, and any other related consultation services.  Combined with family support, this comprehensive approach can relieve the psychological burden faced by caretakers and ensure these children receive the specialty care most suited for their target goals.

Services

  • Diagnosis

Provide a comprenensive assessment in order to clarify the underlying etiology.  Once a diagnosis is reached, specialty treatments such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy may then begin.  Coordination of care among rehabilitation service providers as well as psychologists and social workers continues throughout treatment.

  • Treatment

Provide direct and indirect intervention as well as consultation services for parents.  Depending on the developmental stage of the child, intervention techniques may involve play therapy facilitated by parents in their own home.  Parents will learn to incorporate coaching, therapeutic interaction, physical movement, and rehabilitation exercises into the child’s daily routine.  Tailoring treatment to the individual child in the home environment ensures continuity of rehabilitative practices and reduces disruptions.

  • Empowerment

Provide consultation and support to parents.  Parents will not only learn about their child’s specific diagnosis and treatment, they will have the opportunity to become an integral part of the rehabilitation team.  We believe that parents hold the key to bringing about a sense of self-efficacy in their child, whose compentency in activities of daily living, independence, social adjustment, and self-esteem can take root with consistency and progress.

  • Child Developmental Assessment

Provide diagnostic assessment and monitoring for pre-school children age 0-6 with developmental delays.  Each individual case is reviewed by the medical team to ensure consensus regarding diagnosis and treatment approach.  A comprehesive written report is provided so that the parents, therapists and teachers who take care of the child can understand clearly the strength and wekaness of the individual child.
