National Taiwan University Children's Hospital (NTUCH) is committed to the study of pediatric diseases and the development of a surveillance, prediction, and treatment system for children's diseases or epidemics in Taiwan. It provides research data as a reference for decision-making. In addition, NTUCH continues to carry out cutting-edge research, not only to solve local problems but also to advance towards the forefront of international pediatric research. Medical research is one of the core missions of NTUCH, which not only concerns the competitiveness of the children's hospital but also has a profound impact on the overall medical technology, education, and quality improvement of the country. The essence of medical research is innovation, and any R&D progress must be accumulated through the continuous dedication of many researchers to achieve the ultimate goal of "putting patients first."
Since the establishment of the children's medical team in 1906, NTUCH has achieved many world and Asian clinical firsts. In addition to general medical care, it has made pioneering research achievements in hepatitis, heart disease, organ transplantation, intensive care, genetic diagnosis and innovative treatment, cancer diagnosis and treatment, immunology, neurological diseases, renal support, endocrinology, and vaccines, all of which have received international recognition and a good reputation. All of these achievements are attributed to the hospital's colleagues' emphasis and persistence in "medical research".
