Visiting Hours

The regulations for visitor flow control at NTUH are as follows: 

  1. Mask Wearing Regulations: (updated on May 20, 2024)
    • All personnel entering the hospital must implement standard protective measures, wearing masks according to respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette and wearing masks based on risk assessment. a. Individuals showing symptoms such as fever, cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, or increased respiratory secretions should wear masks. Infants and young children under the age of 2, or individuals unable to wear masks due to physical or psychological factors, should cover their mouths and noses with tissue when coughing or sneezing. Used tissues should be immediately disposed of properly, followed by hand hygiene. b. Masks should be worn when there is a risk of facial contamination from inhalation or exposure to sources of infection. This includes direct or close contact (within 1 meter) with patients exhibiting fever/respiratory symptoms, performing invasive medical procedures or aseptic procedures, entering medical areas of special units, or facing a risk of blood or bodily fluid splashes.
    • Masks should be worn when entering medical areas of special units (emergency rooms, intensive care units, delivery rooms, neonatal units, parent-child rooms, blood stem cell transplant rooms, catheterization labs, operating rooms).
    • Masks should be worn when entering patient rooms requiring special protection or isolation, such as those with immunocompromised patients.
       
  2. Rules for appointing an accompaniment (updated on July 3, 2024)

Accompaniment rules:

Accompaniment rules: In line with the national policy toward the course of the epidemic, as well as patient requirements, please avoid unnecessary accompaniments during the epidemic. For exceptions or necessary accompaniments, only one accompanying caregiver is allowed, and the caregiver must not exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19. Accompanying caregivers are discouraged from leaving the hospital during their accompaniment, and are subjected to health monitoring procedures.

  • Number of accompanying caregivers: Please make sure to complete the appointment at the accompanying caregiver reservation system first.
    • Each patient is limited to 1 accompanying caregiver (including the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology).
    • Exceptions: A maximum of 2 accompanying caregivers is allowed for each pediatric patient (under 12 years of age), elderly patient (above 65 years of age), those with physical or mental disabilities, or those with a condition (mobility difficulties or unable to engage in self-care).
  • Individuals with the following circumstances are strongly discouraged from becoming an accompanying caregiver. If an accompaniment is necessary, the accompanying caregiver are required to produce a negative at-home test result.
    • Those who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19: Fever ≧38°C, respiratory tract symptoms, loss of taste/smell, unexplained diarrhea.
  • Accompanying caregivers are required to bring:
  • Personal identification (e.g. NHI card, national ID card or ARC).
  • Accompanying caregiver ID.
  • If you have symptoms such as fever, please inform us proactively and go to the nursing station or ward entrance to have your temperature taken.
  • Online appointment: Appointments must be made before midnight before the visit. Please bring proof of the appointment and present the QR Code at the hospital entrance. For special visits, please present the text message upon entry.

Visitation rules (updated on June 13, 2024)

  • The CECC has announced that all visitations will be conditionally allowed.
  • Visitors must not display any symptom of COVID-19.
  • Visitors must be masked at all times inside the hospital and practice hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette.
  • Visiting hours and number of visitors:
    • Only one designated visiting period per day, and a maximum of two visitors for each inpatient.
    • Children’s Hospital/West Campus/ICU/Floors 3-8 of the East Campus: 11:00-12:00.
    • Floors 7-9 of the East Campus: 13:00-14:00.
    • Floors 11-15 of the East Campus, Children’s Hospital general ward: 14:00-15:00.
  • Exceptions to the visiting hours and number of visitors, which shall be determined by each ward:
    • 1. Patients undergoing surgery or an invasive examination or treatment requiring the accompaniment of a family member, or a family member required to sign a consent form or document for the aforementioned procedures as required by law. 
    • 2. Inpatients admitted to the emergency department, ICU, palliative care unit, and other units that need to respond to a patient's deteriorating condition; patients requiring medical treatment, whose visits are deemed necessary by the healthcare facility.
    • 3. The healthcare facility deems visitations necessary due to a patient's deteriorating or life-threatening condition..
    • 4. Other special reasons which warrant visitations and approved by the ward.
  • Visitations are strongly discouraged for the following conditions. 
    • (1) Those who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19: Fever ≧38°C, respiratory tract symptoms, loss of taste/smell, unexplained diarrhea.
  • Reminder: It is recommended that individuals on home isolation or quarantine or who have completed their quarantine period and who are self-initiating epidemic prevention, use video calling rather than visiting in person. Asymptomatic individuals may visit, but accompanier status is not permitted.
  1. Individuals with infectious diseases (particularly respiratory diseases) and children under six should refrain from visiting. If a visit is necessary, such individuals are requested to put on face masks to prevent infections from spreading. In the event of special circumstances, such visitors shall be assisted and guided by our nursing staff.
  2. Before visiting a patient, visitors have to wash their hands or use a hand sanitizer. 
  3. Please refrain from using your mobile phone in the ward. If you have to use your phone, please maintain some distance from any medical equipment or use it in the sun lounge, so as to avoid interfering with the normal operation of the medical equipment and ensure patient safety.
  4. In order to maintain a quiet environment in our wards, please speak quietly and put your phone on vibrate. Children should also not be allowed to play or make noise in a ward.
  5. Please keep your cash and valuables in a secure place and do not leave them lying around.
  6. In order to ensure a quiet environment in our wards, the smooth functioning of the hospital, and the privacy of our patients and medical staff, visitors are not allowed to visit, photograph, or record videos of the hospital's operating rooms, intensive care unit wards, delivery rooms, emergency rooms, burn center, isolation wards, outpatient clinics, and ward areas. If a patient, family member, or visitor intends to take photos or record videos of the hospital areas mentioned above (including the wards), he or she shall first inform the staff at the nursing station of the area in question, and seek the hospital's permission before doing so.
