Introduction to Research

Nursing research is a way to reflect patients’ health problems and needs. It is also a way to validate nursing care knowledge. During the current 5 years, due to the rapid growth of graduate nursing programs in Taiwan, projects related to care quality control, and the grant supports from NTU Departments of Nursing and Research at NTUH, the research performance in nursing is increasing.

Several research grants resources are available for nurses in NTUH. These include: Mrs. Ho-Lin Fu-Shiang grants for clinical nursing research at NTUH, grants from NTUH, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), etc. In addition to involve research, nurses have been actively participating academic conferences nationally and internationally. Results from research are also published in peer review journals. In the current 3 years, in average, there are more than 30 papers published in peer review academic journals each year.

Research is a way to advance and/or validate nursing care. It is clear that we are heading onto an era with personalized high quality care as focus. How to translate evidences from research results to advance our clinical nursing care would require more efforts from both nursing clinicians and researchers in NTUH.
