Introduction to Advanced Practice Nurse

Advanced nursing care at NTUH Nursing Department is mainly carried out by senior staff nurses. Besides providing patients with high quality advanced care, these senior staff nurses also offer general medical consultation to the nursing staff and share with them their professional specialty knowledge.

In our nursing department the advanced nursing practice is divided into two groups, namely, nurse practitioners (NP) and Clinical Nurse Specialists(CNS) . The main role of an NP is to provide medical assistance while the main role of CNS is case management or disease management. The CNS in our nursing department are operative in the Organ Transplant Team , Nutrition Support Team , Wound and Enterostoma Team, Diabetic Health Education Team , Telehealth Care Manager , Hospice and Palliative Cooperative Care Team , Discharge Planning ,Quality Control Specialists , Asthma Disease Manager , Oncology Case Manager , Nursing Information Management Team , Heart Failure Case Management Team, Blood and Marrow Transplant Case Management Team Hepatitis B and C Case Management TeamSmoking Cessation Team and Nursing Education Team .
