Department of Development and Planning was established since 1981, and initially responsible for information management. As the business operation of  National Taiwan University Hospital became more thriving, Plan and Management Office played a more important role in the hospital. This Office started to be in charge of planning projects, rebuilding hospital buildings, and monitoring hospital performance. 

Now Department of Development and Planning is composed of 6 sections, including Strategy Development, Project Planning, Performance Management, Auditing, West Campus Affairs, and Branch Planning.
