The NTUH Social Work Office was established in 1951. It is made up of a group of social worker professionals who dedicated to provide social services for patients (who may be individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, or the society in general). Medical social workers help people increase their capacities for problem solving and coping, and assist patients or family members in dealing with psychosocial problems and to facilitate the medical recovery process to go smoothly. The services provided include psychosocial assessment, discharge planning, crisis intervention, emotional support, and financial assistance. In recent year, the service has placed emphasis on long term care, especially in community resources identifying and outreach program integrating. The hospital remains committed to maintaining the highest standards for the provision of social services to the patients and their family members.
